sci•ber•palooza! - noun (síbar-palooza!)

a virtual science fair for 6th graders offering cash prizes for students and their schools, recognition and a great way to learn about science.

Each year, the non-profit Synopsys Outreach Foundation provides support to over 130,000 K-12 students across California preparing science projects. sciberpalooza! showcases the work of some of these students in our annual virtual science fair. Once a Parental Consent Form is submitted, 6th grade students attending public and private non-profit 501 (c) (3) schools located in California can compete for prizes and recognition with nothing more than access to a computer and a camera.

A virtual science fair is a fun way for a student to enter an exceptional science project in a statewide competition and vie for cash prizes and recognition. There is no cost and minimal hassle for the students, teachers, or parents—and you never have to travel any farther than your computer.

sciberpalooza! replicates a science fair that might be held in your classroom, at your school, or in a local competition. Have a parent submit a Parental Consent Form, answer questions about your project (the same questions a judge would ask you); and then record a short video explaining your project.

sciberpalooza! judges will review your written submission and your video, and then pick the winners.



The submission deadline for sciberpalooza! entries is May 1, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Judges may select as many as 15 of the best projects as “Best of sciberpalooza!” winners. Each “Best of sciberpalooza!” project will receive

$500 ($250 to the student or split between the students if a group project, and a $250 donation to the school)
